INTRODUCTION

Dr. Kerry Peterson is the Medical Director at Pet Wellness Clinics (PWC), a 9-practice network of veterinary hospitals in central Indiana. She has been practicing small animal medicine for the last 8 years, and worked prior as Director of Animal Health Programs for the state of Indiana. The primary goal of PWC, according to Dr. Peterson, is making sure they provide their clients and patients with top care. With 10-20 radiographic studies conducted each week and their smaller clinics often having only one veterinarian on staff, Dr. Peterson looks to the latest technology and the latest in veterinary medicine to help with the speed of receiving radiographic test results and supporting the diagnostic process for their DVMs.

SOLUTION

Dr. Peterson writes monthly newsletters for her veterinarians and technicians and does a lot of research. She is constantly looking for new things that are up and coming in veterinary medicine.

“We had looked into other services that were available with artificial intelligence, and we ended up demoing SignalPET. All the veterinarians and staff really, really liked it and we were really pleased with the ease of the software and the recording system. And found that it added incredible value for our radiology services.”

With COVID-19 leaving ERs on backlog, SignalPET has made a huge difference at PWC. Dr. Peterson is happy that her hospital got on board with SignalPET early on, to see the progression of technology in veterinary medicine.

IMPACT

Dr. Peterson and her colleagues at PWC have seen tremendous value in the way that SignalPET helps enable them to not only provide great care, but to provide rapid diagnostics so they can prioritize and streamline the treatment process, so pets can get treated not only correctly, but effectively.

“All the veterinarians and staff really, really liked it and we were really pleased with the ease of the software and the recording system. And we found that it added incredible value for our radiology services,” said Dr. Peterson, referring to SignalPET’s technology.

“Our patients are able to get care faster, and our clients were really, really pleased to see all the good things. So, it’s just been a great journey for us, and we really, really enjoy using SignalPET.”

The practitioners at PWC also found that SignalPET helped them improve client communication and satisfaction, noting that their clients are more likely to want a radiograph taken for their pet after being informed that their practice was utilizing this cutting-edge AI technology.

“When we add in that we have this technology coupled with the radiology services that we do offer, people like it,” commented Dr. Peterson.

Dr. Peterson sees the direction technology is moving and recognizes the effect that both AI and machine learning will have on the future.

“I think as this technology grows into the future, those of us who are using it and are feeding our images into the database and artificial intelligence, it’s just going to be that more beneficial in the future. So I encourage all veterinarians to give SignalPET a try in your practice. You won’t be disappointed, it’s a great service. And I can’t wait to see what the future holds.”
